Slovak theatre announces new season premiere and festival performances

The Slovak theatre scene is preparing for several upcoming productions and festivals. The Divadlo Jozefa Gregora Tajovského in Zvolen is launching its 78th season with the nationwide premiere of ‘Arthur a Claire’ by Austrian author Stefan Vögel. Directed by Peter Palik, the play follows two contrasting individuals—a grumpy Austrian and an impulsive Dutchwoman—who find common ground through life fatigue. The production is part of a seasonal theme focused on faith, hope, and love.

In Malacky, the 18th edition of the ‘Zejdeme sa na hambálku’ theatre festival will feature the production ‘OUTCAST’ by the independent group Slzy Janka Borodáča. Directed by Júlia Rázusová, the performance draws inspiration from Stefan Zweig’s memoirs, ‘The World of Yesterday’. The play uses physical poetry and autobiographical elements to explore themes such as clinical depression, migration, identity, and the historical lessons of pacifism in Europe.
