Slovak tour operator Solvex declares bankruptcy after 26 years

The Slovak travel agency Solvex, which has operated for 26 years, announced on 20 July that it is insolvent and can no longer meet its financial obligations to business partners or customers. The company cited a combination of sharply rising fuel and service costs, sustained competitive pressure on low‑price vacation packages, and the sudden collapse of a key foreign partner as reasons for the failure.

Clients who have already paid for trips or are currently abroad are advised to file claims with Solvex’s insolvency insurer, Colonnade Insurance S.A., and to contact the assistance service Global Assistance for immediate support. The Slovak Association of Travel Agencies and Tour Operators (SACKA) confirmed the insolvency and urged affected travelers to use the insurer’s claim forms or the provided contact details. The insolvency comes during the peak summer holiday season, leaving many Slovak tourists facing uncertain travel arrangements.
