Slovak TV rolls out new season of ‘Dunaj’ and previews comedy sequel ‘Kavej 2’

Markíza announced that the historic drama series ‘Dunaj’ will return for a 15th season this autumn. The show, set in 1939 Bratislava during the rise of the Slovak State, has maintained a stable audience of around half a million viewers and is a leading program on the channel. The recent 14th‑season finale delivered several shocking plot twists, including the return of Leopold Kučera and the arrest of key characters.

The broadcaster also confirmed production of the comedy sequel ‘Kavej 2’. After a strong audience response to the first film, director Lukáš Zednikovič and producer Daniel Dangl moved quickly to develop the follow‑up. Returning stars Jana Kovalčíková and Anna Jakab Rakovská will reprise their roles, joined by newcomer Kristián Baran. Filming took place around Zemplínska Šírava, with actress Eva Pavlíková praising the location’s natural beauty. Both projects underscore Markíza’s focus on domestically produced entertainment that resonates with Slovak viewers.
