Slovak writer Jozef Banáš faces dispute over Milan Lasica book

A dispute has emerged regarding a new book of interviews with the late Slovak artist Milan Lasica, authored by writer Jozef Banáš. The publication, released as a supplement to the weekly Plus 7 dní, features discussions recorded by Banáš during the 1990s.

Hana Lasicová, the daughter of the late comedian, has strongly criticized the project, stating that the interviews are unauthorized and that her father would not have wanted them published. She has shared correspondence from 1992 to support claims that Banáš previously attempted to pressure her father regarding Banáš's involvement with the ŠtB (secret police) during his tenure as an ambassador in Vienna.

Jozef Banáš has denied all allegations of blackmail or wrongdoing, describing the book as a celebratory tribute to Lasica. He challenged the family to provide evidence for their claims, stating that he hoped the publication might actually bring him closer to Magda Vášáryová, Lasica's widow.
