Slovakia advocates for two-state solution and ICC integrity

During the 81st UN General Assembly in New York, Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár reaffirmed Slovakia’s support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Speaking at the Global Alliance for the Implementation of a Two-State Solution, Blanár stated that a two-state model remains the only sustainable path to lasting peace and security for both nations. He emphasized the importance of the Comprehensive Plan to End the Conflict in Gaza, supported by UN Security Council resolution 2803, and called for the disarmament of Hamas.

Blanár also addressed the protection of the International Criminal Court (ICC) during a meeting of the Informal Ministerial Group on the ICC. He underscored Slovakia’s long-standing support for the Rome Statute and the court’s independence. Slovakia is currently campaigning for membership in the Assembly of States Parties of the ICC. Blanár highlighted the necessity of maintaining professionalism and integrity in the selection of a new ICC prosecutor to ensure public trust in the institution.
