Slovakia allocates 247 million euros to modernize heating sector

The Slovak Environmental Fund is allocating 247 million euros to modernize the country's heating sector. The initiative aims to reduce heat loss and promote more ecological production for thousands of households. Of this total, 150 million euros have already been contracted, with nearly 100 million euros expected to be allocated next year.

One of the primary beneficiaries is the state-owned MH Teplárenský holding (MHTH). The holding was successful in nine projects, with eligible costs totaling 50.3 million euros, of which 26.1 million euros will be provided as a grant. Following these modernizations, MHTH expects to save more than 37,000 megawatt-hours of electricity annually and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Key projects include the construction of a high-efficiency cogeneration unit in Bratislava-Dúbravka, as well as the reconstruction of heat distribution networks in Žilina, Martin, and Zvolen. The modernization also involves the construction or reconstruction of 11 kilometers of heat distribution lines.
