The Slovak National Council has approved the 2027 state budget, which outlines significant shifts in public spending. Total expenditure for 2027 is estimated at 70.78 billion euros, with a projected budget deficit target of 4.94 percent of GDP.
Key sectoral allocations include 11.1 billion euros for healthcare, representing a 429 million euro increase from the previous year. Defense spending is set at 3 billion euros, which includes funding for F-16 fighter jets and an increase of 1,815 employees within the Ministry of Defense. Agriculture spending is also expected to rise by 480 million euros compared to 2026, bringing the total to over 1.247 billion euros.
