Slovakia and Hungary launch summer childcare and school‑start cash aid for families

In Slovakia, the Social Insurance Agency announced that parents can claim a childcare benefit (ošetrovné) when a kindergarten is closed for the summer holiday. The allowance covers up to 14 calendar days per child, requires a completed application, verification by the kindergarten and employer, and electronic confirmation by a child doctor after August 1.

In Hungary, the government introduced a tax‑free grant of 100,000 forints per child for low‑income families to help cover school‑start expenses. The aid is intended to reach eligible families in full amount and is exempt from taxation and any repayment obligations.
