Slovakia approves Vision 2040 strategic development roadmap

The Slovak government has approved ‘Vision Slovakia 2040: A Path to a Better Quality of Life’, a strategic document designed to guide the country’s development over the next 14 years. Developed with input from nearly 400 experts, the vision serves as a conceptual framework for the upcoming ‘Slovakia 2040 Development Strategy’.

The document identifies six key areas for transformation: state reform to stabilize public finances, economic transformation through support for science and innovation, education for the era of artificial intelligence, healthcare improvements, social cohesion, and security against physical, cyber, and climate threats. It aims to address critical challenges such as declining birth rates and the need for energy security.

In related social developments, the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family has completed milestones of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, investing 277 million euros to establish 151 social service facilities. This initiative will create over 3,100 new positions for people with disabilities and the elderly. Additionally, new regulations effective August 1, 2026, will allow citizens to submit pension applications at any Social Insurance Agency branch rather than being restricted to their place of residence.
