Slovakia average wage rises to 1,864 euros amid regional disparities

The average monthly wage in Slovakia rose by 6.6 percent year-on-year in 2025, reaching 1,864 euros. According to data from the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic, this represents an increase of 115 euros compared to the previous year. However, significant regional disparities persist; only 14 of the 79 districts reported wages above the national average. The highest average was recorded in Bratislava I at 2,455 euros, while Veľký Krtíš reported the lowest at 1,294 euros.

Sectoral differences are also pronounced. The telecommunications and IT sectors reported the highest average earnings, both exceeding 3,000 euros. In contrast, the gastronomy and hospitality sector saw an average gross wage of only 998 euros. Other lower-earning sectors include the garment industry, social services, and security agencies, where wages remained below 1,300 euros.

Regarding future trends, the minimum wage is scheduled to increase to 972 euros on January 1, 2027, following a legislative mechanism that sets the minimum at 60 percent of the average monthly wage from two years prior. This increase is expected to impact hundreds of thousands of workers by raising the baseline for various labor supplements.
