Slovakia child tax benefits and investment potential

Tax expert Jozef Mihál has released calculations regarding the child tax bonus in Slovakia for the year 2027. The amount parents can claim depends on the number of children, their ages, and the parent's gross income. For example, a parent with one child under 15 can receive a monthly bonus of 100 EUR with a required gross monthly wage of 403 EUR. For two children under 15, the monthly bonus is 200 EUR with a required wage of 650 EUR, while three children under 15 result in a 300 EUR monthly bonus with a required wage of 816 EUR.

Separately, analysis of the standard 60 EUR monthly child allowance suggests significant long-term growth if invested. While most families use these funds for immediate expenses like diapers and food, investing the monthly allowance into an ETF with an average annual return of 7% could result in approximately 25,843 EUR by the time a child reaches 18. If held until age 25, the sum could reach 48,604 EUR. Historical data from the MSCI World index shows average annual returns of approximately 9.02% in dollars since 1987.
