Slovakia deploys new drone detection system in Bratislava and Rovinka
The Slovak Ministry of Interior has launched a new drone detection system to enhance airspace security and protect citizens' privacy. The state has invested over 55,000 euros in the technology, which was presented by State Secretary Patrik Krauspe.
The system utilizes Remote ID technology, allowing security forces to automatically detect, identify, and track the real-time location and movement of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) broadcasting identification signals. This digital identification enables authorities to monitor drones without physical interception and provides alerts when drones enter predefined geographic zones.
The first two operational sites have been established in Bratislava and Rovinka. The implementation in Rovinka addresses long-standing resident concerns regarding unauthorized drone flights over private properties, such as gardens and terraces, which have been reported in the area since 2017. This deployment serves as the initial step toward building a broader national monitoring network.
