Slovakia hail damage exceeds 1 million euros

Severe hailstorms in Slovakia during July caused significant property and vehicle damage, with insurance provider Wüstenrot reporting losses exceeding 1 million euros. Approximately 86 percent of these claims were related to vehicles, while the remaining 14 percent involved property damage. The most heavily affected regions included Prešov, Michalovce, and northwestern Slovakia.

In response to the increasing impact of summer storms, experts suggest various protective measures. For vehicle owners, carports with insulated roofs, such as Thermopanel constructions, can help mitigate heat accumulation and reduce the noise of heavy rain. While many motorists associate mandatory third-party liability insurance (PZP) only with damage caused to others, certain coverage levels may provide protection against natural disasters depending on the specific policy terms.
