Slovakia hosts summer camp for Ukrainian children affected by war

A summer camp for 15 Ukrainian children directly affected by the war was held at a facility belonging to the National Council of the Slovak Republic in Casta-Papiernicka. The participants include children who have lost relatives or seen loved ones seriously injured in the conflict.

House Chair Richard Rasi stated that the initiative aims to provide the children with a sense of normalcy. The idea for the camp was inspired by a similar program in Poland following discussions with Polish parliamentary leadership. Rasi expressed his intention to organize the camp again next year.

The two-week program included visits to Bratislava, various castles, and a zoo, as well as demonstrations by police dog-handlers and mounted officers. The children were supported by Ukrainian students studying in Bratislava. Children's ombudsman Jozef Mikloako noted that approximately 40,000 Ukrainian children currently live in Slovakia.
