Slovakia implements emergency diesel market stabilization measures

The Slovak government has implemented emergency measures to stabilize the diesel market following a declared state of oil emergency. These measures aim to ensure sufficient fuel supplies for domestic consumers and businesses amid increased demand from foreign buyers, particularly in northern border regions where price differences have led to significant fuel tourism.

Key restrictions include limiting diesel sales to vehicle fuel tanks and a single portable container with a maximum capacity of 10 liters. Additionally, a spending limit of 400 euros per refueling has been established. To prevent shortages, the government has also introduced temporary restrictions on diesel exports and will implement a special diesel price for vehicles registered outside of Slovakia, calculated based on average prices in neighboring Austria, the Czech Republic, and Poland.
