Slovakia announces €24 million procurement for Prešov military hospital equipment
The Slovak Ministry of Defence opened two public tenders for the new military hospital in Prešov. The first concerns the purchase of five linear accelerators for radiation therapy, valued at an estimated €24 million (excluding VAT). The second tender seeks a digital afterloading device for HDR brachytherapy, estimated at €810 000. The deadline for bids on the accelerators is 13 July, and the deadline for the afterloading system is 9 July.
The construction of the hospital, part of a larger project that began at the turn of 2025‑2026, was paused in April for quality checks on structural elements. After ending the contract with the previous builder, a new consortium took over the work. In May, the ministry announced a second‑stage tender for the remaining construction, valued at about €280 million. Opposition parties have repeatedly criticised the government’s handling of the hospital project.
