Slovakia maintains ‘A’ credit rating from Morningstar DBRS
The Canadian rating agency Morningstar DBRS has confirmed Slovakia’s credit rating at ‘A (low)’ with a stable outlook. This assessment comes as the European economy faces challenges including sluggish growth, global trade conflict threats, and energy crisis impacts.
Morningstar DBRS noted that Slovakia’s solid macroeconomic indicators and efforts toward fiscal consolidation balance the challenges of the short-term economic outlook and ongoing fiscal pressures. The agency highlighted a healthy public debt profile, stating that while debt burden is increasing, it is expected to remain at a moderately elevated level.
Economic recovery is anticipated following a period of lower growth. Citing International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasts, the agency expects Slovakia’s real GDP growth to accelerate to 1.6% in 2027 and reach 2.6% in 2028.
