Slovakia mourns eight-year-old Dominik after battle with brain tumor

Eight-year-old Dominik passed away on September 16, 2026, following a difficult battle with an incurable brain tumor. His story gained national attention in Slovakia through the non-profit organization Dobrý anjel and former President Andrej Kiska.

Dominik's family has faced significant hardship, as his sister previously died from the same diagnosis, and his father is currently battling lung cancer with spinal metastases. Before his passing, the family was able to fulfill his wish of celebrating a Christmas-like evening with a decorated tree and gifts.

As the funeral is scheduled for September 21, 2026, in Komárov, the family has issued a request through Andrej Kiska for privacy. They ask that the final farewell be held within a close circle of relatives and loved ones, without public attention or photography.
