Slovakia murder trial of journalist Ján Kuciak continues

The trial regarding the 2018 murders of journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kušnírová, as well as the alleged plots to murder prosecutors, continued at the Specialized Criminal Court in Pezinok. The proceedings focused on the reading of witness testimonies.

Among the defendants, only Dušan Kracina was present in the courtroom. The presiding judge, Miroslav Mazúch, partially granted a motion by Kracina, removing his requirement to report regularly to a probation officer. However, Kracina remains under supervision with restrictions on visiting or participating in gambling activities, as the court maintains concerns regarding the potential for continued criminal activity.

The case involves charges against Marian Kočner and Alena Zs. regarding the murder order, while Kracina and Darko D. face charges related to the preparation of murders targeting prosecutors. Previous convictions for the actual perpetrators, Miroslav Marček and Tomáš Szabó, as well as intermediary Zoltán Andruskó, have already been issued.
