Slovakia national football team defeats Moldova in Nations League opener

The Slovak national football team began its UEFA Nations League campaign with a 2-0 victory over Moldova in Prešov. Following the match, coach Vladimír Weiss st. praised the exceptional stadium conditions, specifically noting the high quality of the pitch and the luxury of the dressing room facilities.

Weiss expressed satisfaction with the atmosphere provided by the local fans and noted that the team aims to return to the B-Division, stating that promotion is a necessity rather than just a goal. The team is now continuing its campaign in Košice.

This period marks a transition for the squad under Weiss, who replaced Francesco Calzona. While Calzona led the team to success at Euro 2024, the current objective is to climb out of the C-Division and work toward qualification for Euro 2028.
