Slovakia police find body of 59-year-old man after failed Vah river crossing
Police in Komárno, Slovakia, discovered the body of a 59-year-old man on Monday after he vanished on Sunday while attempting to swim across the Vah river. The Regional Police Department in Nitre said a criminal investigation for homicide has been opened and a forensic autopsy will be conducted.
The death follows several recent water-related fatalities in the country, including a 45-year-old man who drowned after jumping from a water bike into the Kanianka reservoir in Prievidza district and another person found dead in a pond near Košice. Authorities continue to urge the public to observe basic water‑safety rules, warning about risks linked to alcohol, overestimation of abilities and unknown water conditions.
