Slovakia police repeatedly respond to man climbing high structures

Emergency services in the Trenčín region of Slovakia are repeatedly responding to a 36-year-old man who climbs to high altitudes, including lighting masts, buildings, and scaffolding, while threatening to jump.

In a recent incident at a football stadium in Dubnica nad Váhom, the man climbed a lighting mast approximately 40 to 50 meters high. After negotiations involving police, firefighters, and specialized units, he was secured using climbing techniques and transported to a hospital. This follows a pattern where the individual has prompted five police interventions in just two weeks, including climbing the scaffolding of a district court in Trenčín shortly after being discharged from a hospital.

Authorities note that the man's demands have varied from suicide threats to requests for food and cigarettes. Medical services have recorded at least nine previous calls related to his injuries and psychological distress. Experts suggest the behavior may be a demonstration for attention or a crisis response, noting that involuntary hospitalization in Slovakia is limited to the period when a patient is deemed an immediate danger to themselves or others.
