Slovakia President calls for security measures after thwarted factory attack

Slovak President Peter Pellegrini has called on the government to take urgent action following a thwarted arson attack on a manufacturing plant in eastern Slovakia. The targeted facility, located in Haniska, produces unmanned systems.

Pellegrini urged the government to address the incident during its next meeting or an extraordinary session of the Security Council. He emphasized the need for measures to reassure both businesses and the public that security and intelligence services are prepared to prevent further attacks. The President noted that several other companies in Slovakia produce weaponry, weapon systems, or components for the arms industry, making them high-risk targets.

The Organized Crime Agency (ÚBOK) of the Police Force successfully prevented the attack and detained the potential perpetrators, involving cooperation with foreign security services. Pellegrini stated that relevant information regarding the threat is being passed to criminal investigators and security agencies.
