Slovakia probes Progressive Slovakia campaign financing and billboard spending

The Slovak party Právo na pravdu submitted a formal request to the Interior Ministry, the State Election Commission and the Financial Administration to examine the financing of the Progressive Slovakia movement. The party alleges that the campaign of Progressive Slovakia candidates, including Marián Porvažník and Martin Mudrák, may have skirted election‑funding rules by using a book published by the civic association Optimistický východ. The book was funded through a public donation platform that raised €10,404, with proceeds used for publishing, distribution and public presentations, raising questions about illegal campaign financing and possible economic benefit to the candidates.

Separately, Marián Porvažník, a Progressive Slovakia candidate for the head of the Košický samosprávny kraj, filed an information request under the freedom‑of‑information law asking the regional authority to disclose complete data on its billboard advertising campaign. He seeks details on the number of billboards, their costs, procurement methods and comparisons with previous years, arguing that the public has a right to know how regional funds are spent, especially amid regional crises such as storm damage and healthcare shortages.
