Slovakia public holidays and labor calendar for 2027

The 2027 calendar in Slovakia will feature 14 days of rest, including state and religious holidays. While several holidays fall on Mondays or Fridays, providing opportunities for extended weekends, five holidays will fall on Saturdays or Sundays without replacement, such as May 1st and August 29th.

Tax and payroll expert Jozef Mihál noted that certain dates, including September 1st and November 17th, remain regular working days following legislative changes. In 2027, two holidays fall on Wednesdays—January 6th and September 15th—offering opportunities for employees to use vacation days to create five-day breaks.

Regarding the end of 2026, November 17th will be a working day without automatic holiday pay entitlements. Retail regulations will also apply during the Christmas period, with restrictions on sales starting after 12:00 on December 24th.
