Slovakia reports high gender pay gap and perception disparities
A survey by Go4insight reveals a significant disparity in how men and women in Slovakia perceive workplace equality. Approximately 70% of Slovak women believe men earn more for the same work, whereas fewer than half of Slovak men share this view. This perception gap extends to career opportunities, with 71% of women feeling they have fewer advancement prospects than men, compared to only 38% of men.
Economic data supports these perceptions. According to Eurostat preliminary figures for 2024, the average gross hourly wage gap between men and women in Slovakia reached 15.7%, which is notably higher than the EU average of 11.1%. Consequently, Slovakia remains among the countries with the highest gender pay gaps in the European Union.
