Slovakia sets September 17 deadline for election commission nominations
Political parties and coalitions in Slovakia have until Thursday, September 17, to nominate members and substitutes for election commissions ahead of the upcoming municipal and regional elections scheduled for October 24.
The election structure will include 6,029 precinct election commissions, 49 district election commissions for municipal bodies, and 96 district election commissions for regional self-governing bodies.
Only parties or coalitions that have submitted candidacy lists for relevant assemblies have the right to delegate members. Independent candidates and those running solely for the position of mayor do not have the right to delegate members to these commissions. Eligible members must be citizens of the Slovak Republic or foreign residents who are at least 18 years old, legally capable, and have permanent residency in Slovakia. Commission members are entitled to financial compensation and are required to maintain impartiality during their duties.
