Spišská Nová Ves Hospital Pavilion Construction Advances Ahead of Schedule
The new four‑storey pavilion of the Spišská Nová Ves hospital has completed its façade and reached the “shell & core” stage in February 2026, four months ahead of the original June 2026 deadline. Interior work—including plasterboard, paint, PVC flooring, ceramic tiling and installation of major technical systems such as HVAC, chillers, diesel generators and medical air compressors—is now underway. The pavilion will house 121 beds and a newly opened surgical department with 34 beds that has been treating patients since February.
The project, the third largest funded by Slovakia’s Recovery and Resilience Plan, is financed with €48 million from the Ministry of Health and €24 million from private sources of Penta Hospitals Slovensko, bringing total investment to €72 million. Ownership will remain with the Košice Self‑Governed Region after completion. The pavilion is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027, with full operation expected in 2028. The construction progress is part of a broader national effort to deliver several new state hospitals before the upcoming parliamentary elections.
