EU officials report no immediate Russian threat to NATO members
European intelligence agencies report no immediate signs of a Russian military attack on NATO member states. An anonymous EU official stated that while there is no imminent threat of a conventional invasion, Russia is actively conducting hybrid warfare, including cyberattacks, drone incursions, and disinformation campaigns, particularly targeting eastern EU borders.
In response to regional security concerns, the Slovak government has approved the deployment of up to 101 soldiers to Poland and Romania as part of NATO’s 'Eastern Sentry' mission. These troops will monitor airspace and utilize advanced 3D radar technology to support integrated air and missile defense. Polish officials have welcomed this contribution to the alliance's eastern flank.
Separately, Poland has reaffirmed its position that it does not wish to host nuclear weapons on its territory, though it remains committed to participating in NATO's broader nuclear deterrence framework. Meanwhile, the Kremlin has dismissed reports regarding potential Russian aggression toward NATO as 'scary stories' that do not reflect reality.
