Slovakia to hold municipal and regional elections on October 24
Slovak voters will head to the polls on Saturday, October 24, to elect mayors, municipal and city councilors, regional governors, and regional councilors.
To cast a valid vote for a mayor or regional governor, voters must circle the serial number of only one candidate. For council elections, voters may select multiple candidates, provided the total number does not exceed the seats available in the specific electoral district.
Voting materials are color-coded to prevent errors: white envelopes are used for municipal elections, while blue envelopes are designated for regional elections. Voters must ensure ballots are placed in the corresponding colored ballot boxes to avoid invalidation. While damaged or marked ballots may still be considered valid if the voter's intent is clear through the circling of a serial number, voters who make mistakes can request new ballots from the election commission.
