Slovakia to host 2028 Women's European Volleyball Championship group stage

Slovakia has been selected as one of the co-hosts for the 2028 Women's European Volleyball Championship. The Slovak Volleyball Federation (SVF) announced that the country will host one of the group stages of the tournament.

Organizers plan to hold the matches at the x-bionic sphere Olympic Centre in Šamorín. The venue concept includes a new, currently unbuilt Olympic Arena, which is intended to allow the championship to be hosted within a single, integrated complex.

Marek Rojko, president of the SVF, stated that the candidacy was prepared to meet the rigorous requirements for hosting such a significant international Olympic sport event. He noted that since 2021, the federation has worked to stabilize Slovak volleyball to a level capable of welcoming the European elite. The event is also viewed as a means to promote Slovak sports infrastructure and the country both domestically and abroad.
