Slovakia to host elite water polo tournament and European Masters swimming championships in August 2026

The National Olympic Centre for water sports in Košice will stage a high‑profile water polo tournament from 26 to 28 August 2026. The event, organized as a memorial to Ladislav Bottlik, will feature the two‑time Champions League winners Ferencváros Budapest (2024, 2025), German side Spandau 04 and other top European clubs, alongside the Slovak national team. Assistant coach Karol Bača and head coach Roman Poláčik highlighted the tournament’s strong lineup and the team’s aim to gain quality preparation, with players such as Lukáš Ďurík, Lukáš Seman, Marek Tkáč and Matej Čaraj expected to feature.

At the same time, the swimming club H2O ProSwimm Prievidza, fresh from a medal‑rich performance at the Slovak Open 2026 in Košice, is intensively preparing for the European Masters Championships 2026 in Šamorín, scheduled for 18 – 30 August. The club will represent the city of Prievidza at the event, backed by local sponsors and a seasoned coaching staff.
