Slovakia to increase parental benefits in 2027
Starting in January 2027, Slovakia will implement increases to several parental benefits. According to the Ministry of Labour's 2027 state budget proposal, maximum pregnancy and maternity benefits will rise. Specifically, pregnancy benefits are projected to increase from approximately €451–€466 in 2026 to €479.40–€495.40 in 2027. Maternity benefits are expected to rise from €2,254.70–€2,329.90 in 2026 to €2,396.80–€2,476.70 in 2027.
While some benefits are designed to be issued automatically, others require formal applications. Short-term care allowances are also set to increase, with a maximum of €820.30 for 14 days in 2027. Additionally, there are proposals to increase the birth grant, though some measures still await parliamentary approval.
Separately, taxpayers should be aware of how income changes affect child tax bonuses. Due to consolidation measures, the monthly bonus for children under 15 is set at €100, and €50 for children aged 15 to 18. These bonuses are subject to income thresholds; parents earning above certain limits will see their bonuses gradually reduced or eliminated.
