Slovakia to invest over €24 million in seven winter stadiums
The Slovak Ice Hockey Federation (SZĽH) and the Ministry of Environment have announced a modernization project for seven winter stadiums across Slovakia. The first round of this initiative involves investments exceeding 24 million euros aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing operational costs for local municipalities.
The selected locations for the comprehensive renovations include Piešťany, Trebišov, Ružinov in Bratislava, Svidník, Rimavská Sobota, Brezno, and Zlaté Moravce. The project focuses on technical upgrades such as insulating roofs and stadiums, modernizing heating systems and distribution, renewing cooling systems, upgrading lighting, and implementing new technological solutions to reduce emissions.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment Tomáš Taraba and SZĽH President Miroslav Šatan emphasized that these investments are essential for maintaining sporting success and providing safe, high-quality facilities for youth. The Trebišov stadium is set to receive the highest support, nearly 5 million euros, while the Svidník facility will receive approximately 947,000 euros for its cooling system renewal.
