Slovakia transport updates: Railway works and bus schedule changes

Major transportation adjustments are scheduled across Slovakia for September 2026.

In Bratislava, Železnice Slovenskej republiky will undertake significant railway infrastructure reconstruction near the main station from September 1 to December 12, 2026. The project focuses on renewing worn switches. Consequently, several train lines will be affected: the S50 line will terminate at Bratislava-Nové Mesto instead of the main station, and the R55 line between Bratislava and Trnava will be temporarily canceled. The S60 line will see its frequency reduced from half-hourly to hourly intervals. To compensate, express trains like the R50 and R60 will include additional stops at stations such as Bratislava-Rača, Ivanka pri Dunaji, and Senec.

Additionally, SAD Prievidza has announced updates to regional bus schedules effective September 1, 2026. These changes include route adjustments, the creation of new connections, and modifications to travel times for several lines to improve transfers and operational efficiency in the Prievidza region.
