Czech Travelers Favor Car Trips to Croatia, Italy and Poland for Summer 2026
A summer travel survey by Platforma Vize 0 shows that more than half of Czech residents plan to vacation by car or caravan, with Croatia, Italy and Poland the most popular foreign destinations. The same Holiday Barometer 2026 study reports that Czech tourists intend to spend an average of €1,486 on their holidays, ranking the Czech budget among the lowest in Europe. Domestic trips are gaining ground – 77 % of respondents expect to stay within the Czech Republic, a 12‑percentage‑point rise from last year, while only about half still plan to travel abroad. The preferred modes of transport remain the private car (53 %) and the airplane (44 %). Discounts on rail tickets and other transport offers are encouraging more travellers to consider trains for shorter trips. Overall, Czech holiday plans combine family‑oriented stays at the sea in Italy and Croatia with growing interest in countryside and mountain getaways.
