Slovakia volleyball team defeats Australia 3-1 in preparation for European Championships

The Slovak national volleyball team defeated Australia 3-1 in a preparatory match held in Žilina. This victory serves as a rebound for coach Michal Masný’s squad following a 0-3 loss to the 49th-ranked Australian team in their previous encounter.

Individual performances included 17 points from Ihnát and 15 from Filip Makónyi for Slovakia, while Aubrey led Australia with 16 points. Coach Masný noted that while the team showed good tactical thinking and service, there are still technical deficiencies to address before the European Championships.

Following this match, the Slovak team is scheduled to play a third match against Australia, followed by two friendly matches against Switzerland and a tournament in Estonia. The European Championships are set to take place from September 11 to 26, where Slovakia will compete in Group A against Italy, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Sweden, and Greece.
