Slovakia warns of door-to-door scams and fake castle tickets

Authorities in Slovakia are warning citizens about various fraudulent activities targeting both seniors and tourists. In the village of Dolné Obdokovce, officials issued an alert regarding unregistered door-to-door salespeople. These individuals are reportedly targeting elderly residents, offering goods at suspiciously high prices without proper municipal authorization.

The Ministry of Interior has noted that scammers often use various pretexts to gain access to homes or savings, such as posing as relatives in emergencies, medical professionals, or utility workers. Residents are advised to verify all urgent requests and demand official receipts and permits.

In a separate incident, the Orava Museum P. O. Hviezdoslav warned of a fraudulent website designed to sell fake entrance tickets for Orava Castle. While the specific site was recently taken down, officials cautioned that scammers frequently create new domains with similar names to deceive visitors. The museum emphasizes that tickets should only be purchased through their official website.
