Slovakia warns of fraudulent parking fee SMS scams

A wave of fraudulent SMS messages is targeting drivers across Slovakia, claiming there are unpaid parking fees to trick victims into clicking malicious links. The scams often use names like ‘Easypark’ and request small amounts, such as 1.70 euros, to create a sense of legitimacy and urgency.

Reports indicate that the messages are being sent from suspicious phone numbers, including those originating from Morocco. Victims have noted receiving these texts even if they do not own a vehicle or have not parked in the mentioned areas. The Nitra Municipal Police and the Slovak Banking Association have issued warnings regarding this tactic.

Authorities advise citizens not to click on any links within such messages and to block the sender's number. If a user accidentally enters payment details or sensitive information, they are urged to contact their bank immediately to block their cards and accounts.
