Slovakia weather alert: Cold front brings wind and storms

Meteorologists are warning of potentially dangerous weather conditions in Slovakia, characterized by strong winds and thunderstorms. A cold front approaching from Germany is expected to impact the region, following a period of high temperatures that reached up to 35 degrees Celsius in some areas.

Two primary scenarios are being monitored. In the first, remnants of a thunderstorm system from Germany may arrive via Austria late Friday or Saturday night, potentially causing sudden, strong wind gusts even without significant precipitation. In the second scenario, a delayed arrival on Saturday morning could lead to more moisture, resulting in showers, thunderstorms, and lightning, with wind gusts potentially exceeding 80 km/h, particularly in Western Slovakia.
