Climate experts warn of record-breaking global temperatures and regional weather shifts

Meteorologists are warning of significant weather shifts across Central Europe. In Slovenia, conditions are expected to transition from sunny intervals and fog to increased cloudiness and rain, with potential storms on the coast. In Slovakia, regional differences will prevail, with sunny skies in the west and cloudier, cooler conditions in the central and eastern regions.

On a broader scale, Pavol Faško, a climatologist from the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ), warns that 2027 could become the warmest year on record. This potential surge in global temperatures is attributed to long-term warming and the influence of the El Niño phenomenon. Faško emphasized the urgency of addressing the climate crisis, noting that maintaining global warming within a 1.5-degree Celsius limit may no longer be realistic. He also highlighted the collective responsibility of individuals in environmental degradation.
