Slovakia weather forecast: Rain, wind, and mountain snow expected
Slovakia is experiencing a period of variable weather characterized by cold, moist air moving from the north. According to the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ), the region is caught between a low-pressure system moving toward Belarus and a high-pressure system from the northwest.
Forecasts indicate fluctuating cloud cover with showers or rain occurring in several areas, particularly in the northern half of the country. At higher elevations, specifically above 1600 to 1800 meters, snowfall is expected. Temperatures are projected to range from daytime highs of 15 to 21 degrees Celsius to nighttime lows between 1 and 11 degrees Celsius, with mountain temperatures near 1500 meters hovering around 3 to 4 degrees Celsius.
Wind conditions include northwesterly gusts reaching up to 15 m/s (55 km/h), with the potential for strong or even stormy winds above the forest line.
