Slovak women's volleyball squad prepares for European Championship

The Slovak women's national volleyball team, coached by Martin Volpini, is intensifying preparations for the upcoming European Championship scheduled for August 21‑September 6, 2026 in Azerbaijan, the Czech Republic, Sweden and Turkey. Seventeen players are training in Bratislava, with three newcomers—outside hitter Juliana Katočová, middle blocker Sofia Libáková and libero Katrin Trebichavská—making their debut in the squad.

In the final phase of their camp the team will face friendly duels against Slovenia and Spain on August 6‑7 and 12‑13. The squad finished fourth in the recent European League, securing qualification for the 2028 edition of the championship. Captain Karolína Fričová says the goal is to finish among the top eight, citing the talent in the roster and the team's improved fitness as key assets.
