Slovakian conjoined twins prepare for separation surgery
Slovakian conjoined twins Anička and Lucka, born in Bratislava with joined pelvises, are preparing for a separation surgery. Medical specialists from the National Institute of Children's Diseases and University Hospital Bratislava have been monitoring the infants, who are nearly three months old.
Due to the complexity of the case, Slovak medical teams are seeking international assistance. Experts are looking toward the King Abdullah Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which has operated a specialized international program for separating conjoined twins since 1990.
