Slovakian masseur Vladimir Kovacik competes in World Cycling Championships

Vladimir Kovacik, a masseur for the Slovakian national cycling team, competed as the country's sole representative in the men's road race at the World Championships in Canada.

Following a series of last-minute withdrawals from Slovakian riders, the team faced the risk of losing points and being downgraded to a B-nation status, which would complicate future Olympic qualifications. Because Kovacik was already present in Canada and held the necessary licenses, he was selected to ensure the nation's participation. Kovacik, who previously raced until 2017, noted his preparation was limited to amateur-level training.
