Slovakian mother reports school bullying and social service scrutiny
A mother in Slovakia, identified as Zuzana, has come forward to share her family's trauma following a violent incident at Lazany Primary School. She reports that in May, her son was physically assaulted by an older student in the school cafeteria after a minor accidental contact involving a tray.
The assault resulted in significant physical symptoms, including dizziness and impaired vision, requiring a medical examination. Zuzana expressed frustration with the school administration, claiming they dismissed the incident because it occurred outside of instructional time, despite eyewitness accounts from other students.
Legal proceedings were halted because the alleged assailant is 12 years old, making them exempt from criminal prosecution under current laws. Furthermore, the family reported that instead of receiving support, they faced scrutiny from social services, who conducted home visits and required teachers to complete questionnaires regarding the family's living conditions. Zuzana stated that the experience has left her hesitant to report similar incidents in the future.
