Slovakia's Financial Administration signs deal to use seized assets for food aid

The Slovak Financial Administration (Finančné riaditeľstvo SR) and the Office of the Government Commissioner for Development of Civil Society have signed a memorandum of cooperation. The agreement aims to build an effective system for redistributing food assistance across Slovakia, reducing waste and directing safe food to people facing poverty, social exclusion or sudden emergencies.

Under the deal, state‑seized assets – such as generators that were confiscated in criminal or customs cases – may be provided to NGOs that store, transport and distribute food. Each asset will be evaluated individually for technical condition, intended use and legal compliance. The initiative builds on the national REDIPOM project, which seeks to link state, municipal and civil‑society capacities into a sustainable food‑aid logistics network, with pilot testing and gradual rollout planned.
