Slovakia's Job Market Shifts as AI Roles Drive Rapid Growth
Slovak workers are moving beyond salary as the primary motivator, seeking meaningful work, supportive teams, stability and flexible arrangements that allow a balanced life after leaving the workplace. Companies are responding; Lidl, for example, adds a benefits programme worth over €5 million annually, giving employees bonuses exceeding €800 per year, a €250 voucher pool, monthly €40 Lidl credits, Multisport cards, extra paid leave, pension contributions and access to free legal and psychological support.
At the same time, LinkedIn data show that positions linked to artificial intelligence are the fastest‑growing segment across the European Union. Since 2023 more than 256 000 AI‑related jobs have been created, with demand for AI engineers about 25 % higher than the market average. Employers are hiring not only developers but also staff to implement AI in daily operations, train colleagues, design processes and match technology to business needs. Analysts note no evidence that AI is causing a net loss of jobs; instead, AI literacy is becoming a valuable skill in marketing, administration, finance, HR and customer service.
