Slovakia's Mochovce Nuclear Plant Fourth Block Reaches Critical State

On 6 August, the fourth block of the Mochovce Nuclear Power Plant in Slovakia achieved a critical reactor state at 22:10 and reached minimal controlled power at 22:31. Project director Martin Mráz said the milestone confirms the reactor’s readiness for the next series of physical and performance tests before connection to the national grid.

The block is the second of two new units under construction at the plant. Once fully operational, the two blocks are expected to raise Slovakia’s share of electricity generated from nuclear sources to one of the highest levels worldwide, bolstering domestic energy security and supporting long‑term power supply goals.
