Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico rejects military loans for Ukraine

Prime Minister Robert Fico announced that Slovakia will not participate in any further military financing for Ukraine, saying "Slovensko nebude platiť vojenské výdavky Ukrajiny" and that he will steer negotiations so the Slovak delegation cannot approve such loans at the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara. He also expressed concerns about the escalation of the conflict and reiterated the country's commitment to humanitarian and economic cooperation.

In the same parliamentary session, coalition MP Roman Michelko indicated possible changes to the voting law, stating that the coalition is willing to lower the eight‑percent quorum for preferential voting to three percent, provided the number of preferential votes is reduced to two. The coalition is also set to discuss reforms to overseas postal voting and a new Civil Code amendment at a September National Council meeting.
